This week, I can say is a casual one. Neither much activity nor the running around to get things done.

* Received the TOEFL score {joy to incur upon this as I was not expecting to obtain it now. When I had given the exam, I was told that score will be available later this month…perhaps around Feb 24th…}

* Started reading “Data Structures and Algorithms”… Got a more elucidated insight into all the concepts…

* Spent evenings eating Oreo cookies with lemon tea…Coz most of the week it was raining…

* Finally one of my hibiscus plants has started flowering. It was a rare finds {at least here} at a local nursery…it’s a ruby orange colored flower…

* Watched Travel channel a lot… I have saved some of the Anthony Bourdain’s travelogues…Especially I loved his trip to Italy…his schematic style quotient,” I am born in this place and I belong to the people here “attitude combined with his deep voice sums up fine evince of diverse cultures….

* cleared my laptop by deleting some oldies. I almost always stuck up at a mode while reviewing those oldies and deciding on whether to keep the file or not… which is I’m now… image courtesy sleepy hibiscus

This week has been an organizational week…organized bills; organized mortgage account.., and reinstated the home insurance policy…

# Monday we exchanged one of the area rugs that we just bought, with the seller.coz the other day we found our choice of color in the same shop… I just love emerald green. This color certainly has that enchanting appeal to it…

# Tuesday, I spent nearly half a day talking with a customer service representative of our home insurance company. Our policy got cancelled just a week ago due to a little miscommunication. Again I have to conform it to the company and got it reinstated again…

# Wednesday I rechecked all other accounts to assure myself that everything is in place…filed some documents which were seeking my attention for a past couple of days…cleared the mailbox too…

# Thursday I set up an online payment plan for the utility& waste water service charges bill…which is not an e-bill… But we can pay it via online services…

* Got all the w2 forms and other forms needed to file tax returns. Kept them in a folder to avoid any last minute delving into the shelves…

# Today I composed write ups for my blog… made a list for weekend shopping…no no Iam not buying any fancy kind of stuff..

* {ca} usual visits to Costco. Valley max,Bharat Bazaar for  groceries,

* A visit to Wal-Mart for vinyl table mats and cleaning supplies…

* Another quick visit to Home Depot for the finial set to hang a few rods…

* And a short visit to Target to redeem gift{ed} card…

And the list keeps on growing ……

* Night jasmine plant which is across my study room flashed in my mind….

* The never ending hustle bustle of daily chores churned me for a few seconds…

* “Seven habits of highly effective people “pages swirled for another few seconds…

* Naina lal kidwai, the first Indian woman to graduate from Harvard Business School, is one of India’s best bankers….

* I wanted to drink the warm water with a dash of honey and lemon squeezed into it…

* I wanted to taste the custard apple which is lying on the countertop …

* I wanted to dance like a peacock happily showing off her reddish-brown wings each quilted with a purple eyespot…

* The thought of beautiful rich burgundy colored  four ‘o ‘clock flowers and the guava tree at my parents’ home …

* Glimpses of those fallen parijata flowers flaunting their red stems up while the white petals are busy in kissing the ground at my parents’ home…

* I felt serenity is slipping me completely into the hands of transcendentalism ….

Today while I was doing meditation, the above elite intellections had surrounded me and moulded my mind into a calm, cool and beautiful oasis…

Yesterday, Going out for dinner with friends after watching the Super bowl at home was pretty good.we had a fun time together.

The Fajitas de vegetables {Grilled vegetables and Portobello mushrooms} served with brown rice, tortillas, bean dip, and Guacamole, cheese and tomato onion salad in the neighborhood “On the Border Mexican Grill “was awesome. Naturally it was a heavy dinner and I was not feeling sleepy at all. So I just started browsing YouTube.it has been a while now I didn’t check the you tube.

For sometime now I heard a lot about the 1987 released film Wall Street .and was able to found videos on the film only to discover the unseemly corporate raider Gordon Gekko.while watching the movie clips my pulse rate climbed up by his set of self morale standards and dropped down by his ruthless techniques of accumulating wealth.

A well profound screenplay and Michael Douglas at his electrifying best with a sharp voice as the infamous ‘Gordon Gekko’ sums up his philosophy.

Greed is good

I was astonished and googled to find more about this movie. And came to know that the character of Gordon Gekko is based at least in part on Ivan Boesky, especially regarding a famous speech he delivered on the positive aspects of greed at the University of California, Berkeley in 1986, where he said “I think greed is healthy. You can be greedy and still feel good about yourself”.

Ivan Boesky was famous for the Wall Street scam that occurred in the mid 1980’s. Ivan Boesky had become an arbitrageur who had hoarded a fortune of about US$200 million. He made investments based on tips received from corporate insiders. Boesky was on the cover of TIME December 1, 1986.

Insider trading of this type is illegal. Strict Laws prohibiting it were enforced by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission only after Boesky was prosecuted .he had received a prison sentence of 3.5 years and was fined US$100 million as a consequence of his own greed.

Definitely it gave me more tautness than the nail baiting superbowl game…..
